Noreside Celtic 3 - Rearcross 'B' 2

Rearcross 'B' bowed out of the Tipperary Cup last Friday evening with a 3 -2 home defeat to Noreside Celtic. Neither side had played a game in recent weeks and as a result, both struggled to put together a passing move of any consequence. Accordingly, the first goal was always going to be important and it fell to the visitors when poor play by the Rearcross rearguard resulted in the concession of a corner. David Hewson climbed highest to head home past the defender on the line. Rearcross had half chances to draw themselves back into the game but lacked the requisite finishing touch. They fell further behind when a quick counter attack caught the hosts off guard and David Hewson was on hand to slot the ball home at the back post on the hour mark. And indeed, a similar move 15 minutes later had an identical result and David Hewson completed his hat trick. Rearcross to their credit battled on and were rewarded with 2 late goals from Michel O’Gorman and Paul Murphy. But it was a case of too little too late and Noreside deservedly marched into the next round of the Tipperary Cup.
