Rearcross 'A' played second fiddle to a lively Nenagh Celtic outfit in this Premier Division league game played under lights in Rearcross last Saturday evening, Rearcross made a promising start and a Derek O'Toole cross found PJ McLoughlin with the resulting effort not far off after three minutes of play. Brian Sheehy linked up with Derek O'Toole five minutes later with the lobbed effort flying over the Nenagh Celtic crossbar. Rearcross survived a goalmouth scramble on 16th minutes as Nenagh Celtic turned on the heat. Rearcross keepeer Sean Sheehy came to the rescue midway through the half with a fine one on one save against David Walsh. Nenagh Celtic took the lead in the 26th minute when Derek McKenna swung in the cross from the left before Darren Scully knocked to the net when Rearcross failed to avert the danger. Nenagh Celtic doubled their tally just before the break when Arthur Mitchell was the provider on the right to Danny Ryan who ran through and finished to the corner of the net with precision.
Rearcross kept battling in the second half and a Liam Nolan effort pulled to the right of upright twelve minutes in, Derek O'Toole did have the ball in the visitors net two minutes later, however the effort was disallowed for offside. Sean Sheehy came to the rescue again for Rearcross midway through the half with a fine block to deny Arthur Mitchell, this was followed seconds later with a John Donnellan strike, however Sean Sheehy was again equal to the effort and tapped the ball on to the cross bar. Rearcross didn't cave in and Simon Kennedy was unlucky when his pile driving free kick from outside the box was barely wide of the upright. Davy O'Toole was in the action minutes later, however it was not to be on the night as the resulting shot flew over the Celtic crossbar.
