Rearcross 'B' 1 - Borroway Rovers 2

Rearcross 'B' bowed out of the 2nd Division Cup last Sunday morning with a disappointing 2 -1 home defeat to Borroway Rovers. The hosts fell behind after 20 minutes when they conceded a penalty which was duly blasted to the back of the net. The visitors doubled their advantage midway through the first half when a mix up in the Rearcross defence was punished. Rearcross pulled a goal back when an Adrian Hurley free kick from the edge of the area was deflected into the corner of the net to leave the minimum between the sides at the break.Rearcross pushed hard for an equaliser throughout and took the game to the visitors. Their best chance of the game came on the hour mark when Adrian Hurley floated an inviting free kick deep into the Borroway penalty area. The inrushing Larry McLoughlin timed his run perfectly however he was unable to keep his volley down and the ball flew over the crossbar. Rearcross followed this with chances through Michael O’Gorman and Liam Ryan however, the Borroway keeper was well positioned on both occasions. The home side continued their effort to force the tie into extra time but ultimately their endeavour was in vain as time ran out. Borroway go forward into the next round of the cup and Rearcross are left to concentrate on their remaining league games.
