Toomevara 3 - Rearcross 'A' 2

An under strength Rearcross 'A' travelled to Toomevara on St. Patrick's morning for this Ricky Fogarty Cup game against Toomevara and were somewhat unlucky in the end to lose out by the odd goal in five. Rearcross made a lively start and took the lead on 20 minutes when Diarmuid Sheehy kept his cool before drilling to the back of the net from in front of goal. The lead was shortlived however when the ball was swung in from the right following a disputed line ball, Sean Sheehy parried, however Toomevara's Timmy Fleming had read the situation well and knocked to the net from close range . Rearcross were well in the game and went ahead shortly before the break when Brian Sheehy produced the trickery on the left before sending a low effort between the posts. Rearcross defended stubbornly early in the second half and the woodwork came to the rescue for the visitors in the 59th minute when a long range pile driver from Robbie Ryan thumped off the crossbar. Toomevara drew level with twenty minutes remaining when Rearcross lost possession and conceded a penalty seconds later, Thomas Sheppard made no mistake from the spot. The game was there for the taking after this and it was the home side that snatched the winner with six minutues remaining when Thomas Sheppard got on the end of a cross from the right to head home from close range. Rearcross tried hard for the equaliser in the remaining minutes, however Toomevara held out to book their place in the Quarter Final, best of luck to Toomevara in the remainder of the competition.
