Rearcross 2 - Sallypark 'A' 4
Rearcross went under on a 4-2 score line to Sallypark 'A' in this Premier Division League game played at Rearcross FC Grounds last Sunday morning. Rearcross will rue missed chances in the opening half and should have been out of sight at the midway stage. Rearcross dominated the early exchanges and Michael O'Gorman's shot in the eighth minute wasn't far away. Liam Ryan got a shot in a minute later which pulled away from the post. Derek O'Toole was unlucky not to knock to the net after latching on to a cross from the right wing midway through the half. Sallypark took the lead against the run of play in the 29th minute when David Keogh broke through the centre and kept his composure before slotting the ball to the back of the net. Rearcross got back on par four minutes later when Derek O'Toole advanced on the left before releasing Michael O'Gorman who rifled to the back of the net. Rearcross should have been ahead at the half time whistle, however poor finishing from the home side saw the sides all square at the break. The exchanges were evenly shared at the start of the second half, Eoin Ryan shot wide of the Rearcross upright and then Matthew Ryan Lukes effort was held by the Sallypark custodian. The visitors went back in front on the hour mark when a long delivery over the top saw David Keogh run on and put the ball past Jim Caplis. Sallypark made it 3-1 when Rearcross lost possession and Tony Mannicle took full advantage with a finish at the near post. Rearcross reduced the deficit when Derek O'Toole combined with Liam Ryan to set up Michael O'Gorman who hit the target for his second goal of the game with seventeen minutes remaining. Sallypark restored their advantage in the 78th minute when Paddy Ronan was on hand to finish the ball over the line from close range to leave no way back for Rearcross.
