Rearcross 2 - Borrisoleigh 1

Rearcross recorded back to back league wins with this narrow 2-1 over Borrosoleigh at Rearcross FC Grounds on Sunday morning. Rearcross came in to this game bouyed by the midweek result against Nenagh AFC and made the early running, Sean Mullins came close two minutes in and went on to score the opener with a well struck shot from in front of goal a minute later after good work by Declan O'Toole on the left. Borrisoleigh's danger man Noel Kent fired on target in the seventh minute, however Sean Sheehy was well positioned to save. Borrisoleigh were back level two minutes later when Rearcross lost possession on the edge of the box, Sean Sheehy raced off the line to avert the danger and fouled in the process with referee Liam Kelly pointing to the spot. The visitor's custodian Gerry Treacy came forward to rifle the penalty to the back of the net. Noel Kent made space to shoot in the 17th minute, however the effort flew over the Rearcross bar. Sean Ryan combined with Noel Kent six minutes later, however Robert Harrington closed in to block out the Borrisoleigh striker. Rearcross got on top after this and were unlucky not to hit the front before the break with chances falling to Declan O'Toole, Sean Mullins and Michael O'Gorman. Rearcrosss got off to a good start again in the second half and a Sean Mullin's well struck effort from out on the left finished in the side netting with three minutes gone. John Ryan Luke's long range free kick on 55 minutes was met by Sean Mullins with the headed effort not far away following good support from Greg Kennedy. The visitors were also having their moments and Sean Sheehy was called in to the action with a smart save. Rearcross didn't throw in the towel though and Sean Mullins linked up with James Gough seven minutes from the end with headed effort that on the mark, however the Borrisoleigh was able to gather. This was a followed a minute later with a fine long range effort from Declan O'Toole that lifted over the crossbar. Rearcross grabbed a crucial winner two minutes from time when a quickly taken corner saw Liam Ryan swing in a pin point cross to Sean Mullins who leaped highest to send a powerful header to the back of net to seal a dramatic win for the home side.
