Murroe AFC were the visitors to Rearcross FC Grounds for this floodlit challenge game and emerged victorious on a one nil score line against the home side. Rearcross came close after ten minutes when Liam Ryan's corner was headed just wide by James Gough. Murroe's Damien Ryan swung in the cross three minutes later, however Rearcross keeper Joey Nolan made the catch. PJ McLoughlin linked up with Liam Ryan on the fifteen minute mark, however the Murroe net minder saved on the second attempt. Rearcross were stringing good passing movements and Sean Mullins rifled inches wide of the upright a minute later.
The second half exchanges were well contested with Rearcross creating their fair share of chances, Greg Kennedy was luckless to see his effort drag wide of the post after latching on to Liam Ryan's delivery from the right. Rearcross were awarded a penalty with twenty minutes to go when Tommy Ryan Luke for fouled in the box, however Paul Murphy's well struck penalty veered away from the target. Murroe counter attacked and took the lead when a good move on the right saw Kieran Kett score from an acute angle. Murroe were denied a second in the 80th minute when Ray Ryan's penalty effort came back of the upright. Rearcross kept working to the end and played well throughout in what was a good overall performance despite being on the wrong end of a one nil score line.
