Rearcross 'A' 1- Kilcommon 'A' 1
Kilcommon won 5 - 4 on penalties

Rearcross 'A' began their 2010/2011 season with a disappointing penalty shoot out defeat in the Ann Kennedy tournament last Tuesday evening. The home side played into a blinding sun and a strong breeze in the opening half and the lack of match practice was evident as Kilcommon dominated possession. The visitors took the lead after 20 minutes when Brian Carr latched onto an attempted back pass and placed the ball in the bottom corner past Sean Sheehy in the Rearcross goal. The hosts best chance of the first half fell to Martin McLoughlin just before the break when his header glanced the outside of the post.

Rearcross came out much more determined in the second half and started to throw the ball around much better. Kilcommon were on the back foot during much of the half and the pressure eventually resulted in an equaliser in the dying moments as Davy O’Toole flicked on an a corner kick at the front post and his brother Declan was well placed to blast the ball to the net and send the tie to penalties. But the effort of the home side proved in vain in the end as they lost after sudden death. Robert Harrington, Sean Mullins, Paul Murphy and Davy O'Tooke found the net for Rearcross. The Kilcommon penalty scorers were Paudie Carr, Danny O'Brien, Donnacha O'Brien, Brian Carr and Tom Keane.
