Rearcross 'B' 1 - Bridge United 3

Rearcross 'B' played host to Second Division side Bridge United in this Tipperary Cup first round game at a rainswept Rearcross FC Grounds on Tuesday night and bowed out of the competition on a 3-1 score line. The home side made the early forays but had to wait until the 22nd minute for the opener when Joey Nolan scored his seventh of the season with a superb forty yard drive that went straight to the bottom corner. The Ballina side got back level five minutes before the break thanks to a Shane Hickey effort. Bridge United enjoyed the better of the exchanges in the second half but had to rely on fortuituous break in the 70th minute when the home side conceded an own goal following a corner kick. Rearcross were left with an uphill battle six minutes later when Kevin McCarthy scored a well taken goal. Rearcross tried hard to get back in to the game, however it wasn't to be on this occasion and indeed the margin would have been greater but for a string of top class saves from Rearcross custodian Jim Caplis.
