Rearcross ‘B’ played away to Holycross ‘B’ in their 3rd match of the season in Holycross on Sunday morning last. In wet and very windy conditions both teams struggled to impose themselves early on in the game. Both sides had limited scoring opportunities with Rearcross having the best effort to go ahead when an opportunist effort by Kieran Devitt was tipped on to the crossbar by the Holycross keeper. With the onset of the second half, the weather conditions improved and Rearcross looked the more likely of the two teams to score. Good work by Darren Quigley down the left flank saw a dangerous cross marginally glance over the crossbar by the on-coming James Nolan. With 5 minutes left in the game, Rearcoss thought they had secured the winner when Thomas Kennedy poked the ball over the Holycross line. However the referee waved play on and Rea were denied what looked like a legitimate winner. When the final whistle blew both sides had to be content with a scoreless draw.
