Rearcross 'A' 0 - Borroway Rovers 5

Rearcross were at home to Borroway Rovers in a 2 o’clock league match last Sunday. Rearcross started brightly and were unlucky when Greg Kennedy dragged his shot wide. Micheal Ryan was through a minute later but Borroway reacted well to avert the danger. It was all Rearcross at this stage and Derek O’Toole got on the end of a Mark Hogan free kick in the 10th minute but his headed effort just went over. All Rearcross’s good work was undone in the 21st minute when Wayne Keane broke free in the box before finishing well to the corner of the net. Borroway doubled their lead when William Carroll got in at the back post to finish Wayne Keane’s cross to the net. Borroway had the golden touch at this stage and went 3 nil ahead when a John Tierney shot from outside the box trickled to the back of the net. Rearcross rallied some bit after this and went close through 2 good efforts from Greg Kennedy and Derek O’ Toole just before half time. Unfortunately for Rearcross the 2nd half went the same way as the 1st and Borroway got their 4th of the day in the 54th minute when William Carroll scored his second header of the day. Rearcross came very close in the 64th minute when Liam Ryan’s effort came off the crossbar and away to safety. Borroway rounded off the scoring in the 84th minute when Keith Moore scrambled the ball over the line. Rearcross are away to Moneygall next Sunday in the league and will be hoping for a better result.
