Moneygall 'A' 2 - Rearcross 'A' 1
Rearcross 'A' travelled to Moneygall on Sunday last for a league encounter with the home side. Rearcross, under new management, started well and were unlucky not to score when Michael O’Gorman saw his shot well saved by the Moneygall keeper. The home side took the lead in the 20th minute when a free kick was headed to the back of the net by a luckless Rearcross defender. Rearcross dug deep after this and were unlucky to go into the break a goal down after good efforts from Eamonn Devitt and Derek O’Toole. Rearcross started the 2nd half brightly and went close early on when Eamonn Devitt played through his brother Kieran who played the ball across the box where Robert Harrington saw his shot go wide under intense pressure from the Moneygall rearguard. Rearcross didn’t have to wait long for their equaliser however as a speculative shot from the left by Diarmaid Sheehy fooled the keeper and ended up in the back of the net in the 70th minute. Rearcross piled on the pressure in the search of a winner but were dealt a sucker punch when a Moneygall shot which was heading wide struck a Rearcross defender and ended up in the back of the net. Rearcross pushed on again after this but to no avail and the score finished 2 1. Rearcross battled hard all game and can be happy with an improved performance.
