Rearcross 'A' 3 - Nenagh Celtic 'A' 2

A resurgent Rearcross welcomed Nenagh Celtic 'A' to Rearcross last Saturday evening and recorded a fine 3 2 victory. Rearcross hit the front when a Declan O’Toole effort squeezed inside the post following a slight deflection which left the keeper stranded. Eamon O’Toole reacted well in the 17th minute when he made a clean catch from a Nenagh cross. Nenagh Celtic equalised when David Walsh got on the end of Stevie Ryan’s menacing free kick to power the ball home with a headed effort in the 23rd minute. It was tit for tat after this until the 41st minute when Nenagh Celtic’s Michael Heffernan sent a dangerous ball across the goalmouth which was a let off for the home side as no Nenagh player could get on the end of it and the sides went in 1 all at half time. Rearcross came out all guns blazing in the 2nd half and had claims for a penalty waved on when Liam O’Toole appeared to be fouled in the box after the restart. Rearcross came close again in the 53rd minute when Liam O’Toole broke inside on the right and pulled back to the onrushing Kieran Devitt with the resulting effort just dragging away from the target. Rearcross did take the lead 2 minutes later when Paul Murphy scored a great goal from outside the box which left Aidan Herlihy in the Nenagh goals rooted to the spot. Rearcross went 3 1 ahead in the 60th minute when good work from Liam O’Toole and Liam Ryan saw the former finish from in front of goal. The 2 goal advantage was short lived as in the 63rd minute Michael Heffernan got on the end of Michael Hynes corner to send a first time rasper to back of the net. Eamonn O’Toole came to Rearcross’s rescue in the 81st minute when he excellently blocked from Michael Heffernan after Heffernan had got in one on one. Rearcross had the last attack of the game when Derek O’Toole broke through on goal, however the ball was cleared to avert the danger. Rearcross can be very happy with this performance and showed the kind aof grit and determination they’re going to need if they are going to get themselves out of danger.
