Rearcross 'A' 1 - Cloughjordan 'A' 2
Rearcross 'A' played host to Cloughjordan 'A' in this end of season league encounter played in Rearcross with the visiting side scoring a late goal to take all three points. Rearcross made a bright start and Kieran Devitt came close after poking wide of the post in the 7th minute. Brendan Shanahan made a lively debut for the A team and gathered on the line from a Darren Killackey effort three minutes later. The visitors came close again in the 16th minute when Conor Deane linked up with Darren Killackey who shot wide of the target. The home side enjoyed a good spell midway through the half with efforts from Robert Harrington and Declan O'Toole seconds apart and then Greg Kennedy blasted to the side netting from a free kick on 31 minutes. The opening score was proving difficult to come by as Darren Killackey scooped the ball over the bar from close range ten minutes before the break. Cloughjordan custodian Michael Cleary produced the save of the half after reflexing superbly to keep Michael O'Gorman's well shot out with his boot.
Rearcross took the lead eight minutes after the re-start when Robert Harrington raided through the centre before firing on target, the visiting shot stopper was forced to parry to the inrushing Declan O'Toole who headed the ball inside the post. Brendan Shanhan was in the action a minute later with a good stop on the line. It was all square on 61 minutes when Conor Deane was shown too much room before shooting to the corner of the net from outside the box. Rearcross counter attacked and Michael O'Gorman fired across the goalmouth seconds later. It was end to end as the Rearcross keeper made a point blank save from Darren Killackey on the 65 minute mark.
The Rearcross keeper came to the rescue again five minutes later after pushing the ball away following a quick reaction. Michael O'Gorman came close again for the green & whites fifteen minutes from time and it looked at that stage as if the points might be shared, however Cloughjordan snatched all three points when Darren Killackey got on the end of Conor Deane's corner kick to head home at the back post in the 87th minute.
