Rearcross Youths 4 - Nenagh Celtic 0

Rearcross Youths turned in a fine performance against Nenagh Celtic to secure a four nil win at Rearcross FC Grounds on Saturday evening. The home side signalled intent early on forcing a succession of corners but failed to breakdown a resilient Nenagh Celtic side. The away side came in to the game as the half wore and threatened on eleven minutes with a corner kick that screamed across the face of the goalmouth. Paul Walsh then came close for Celtic with a headed effort from a Sean Kevin delivery. Aidan Moloney found space to shoot on the twenty minute mark which was saved byNenagh custodian Lorcan Lavery and then the Rearcross number 10 followed up two minutes later with a well struck shot which wasn't far away. Darragh Ryan Luke did well on the half hour mark after getting down to save under pressure from two Nenagh Celtic front men. Rearcross centre half Kevin Mulcahy tracked back to block out under pressure with minutes remaining in the half. Rearcross took the lead on 53 minutes when Gary O'Brien's inswinging corner kick caused consternation in the Nenagh goalmouth before Darragh Kennedy got the last touch to bundle the ball over the line. David Stapleton who is turning in strong displays at right full did well to cut out the danger minutes later. Aidan Moloney continued to threaten and his well struck shot was blocked down on the hour mark. Gary McMahon came close in the 63rd minute when his effort flew across the face of the goal. Darragh Ryan Luke was called in to action with a smart save from a David Shoer free kick on the edge of the box. Aidan Moloney whipped in the cross from the left nineteen minutes from time, Gary McMahon was unlucky as the headed flick dragged outside the post. Rearcross doubled their advantage in the 73rd minute when a move started from a Darragh Ryan Luke kick out saw Ben O'Dea take up the running on the right before Aidan Moloney's right footed effort finished in the net despite the best efforts of the Nenagh Celtic netminder. The home side had gained the upper hand and stretched the lead to three nil on 76 minutes when Aidan Moloney paced through on the right before sending a low crisp effort inside the far post for the goal of the tie. It was all Rearcross at this stage and Gary O'Brien's dipping effort wasn't far over seconds later and then Darragh McGrath's headed effort from an Aidan Moloney delivery flew away from the target. Nenagh Celtic didn't give up as Paul Walsh forced a good block out of Darragh Ryan Luke. It was game, set and match in the 85th minute when Aidan Moloney got behind the Nenagh rearguard to complete his hat-trick. Rearcross will be more than happy with this result, although it must be noted that the visitors were missing some key players, nevertheless Rearcross will look to carry this scoring form in to their next league outing.
