Roscrea United 'B' 2 - Rearcross 'B' 0
A three game unbeaten run came to an end in Roscrea last Sunday afternoon when an under strength Rearcross 'B' side went under to their Roscrea counterparts on a two nil score line. The home side made the better start and edged ahead after fifteen minutes with a Martin Harty goal. Rearcross regrouped and came close on 19 minutes when Joey Nolan set up Shane Quigley who advanced towards goal, however the keeper was fast off his line to thwart the chance. The Rea boys threatened again on the half hour mark when Shane Quigley knocked down to Joey Nolan who wasn't far away with a good effort. Rearcross kept the pressure on at the start of the second half and a James Deegan shot from out on the wing was saved by the Roscrea custodian. It was proving to be a frustrating outing for the Slieve Felim side after Joey Nolan's long range effort dragged away from the target. The Third Division League contenders upped the ante after this with John Ryan Luke and Shane Reynolds very much to the fore to keep the score line intact. Roscrea doubled their advantage on 66 minutes when Sean Sheehy saved superbly from the spot at the expense of a corner kick, however an in form Martin Harty scored from the resulting delivery. Roscrea pressed hard in the remaining minutes and it took three top drawer saves to keep the home side at bay. Rearcross kept plugging and were unlucky not to pull one back through Shane Reynolds following a corner kick with fifteen minutes to play and then Shane Quigley came close after good approach play by PJ McLouglin and John Ryan Luke. The last action of the tie saw Sean Sheehy produce another fine save to leave a full time scoreline of two nil in favour of the Roscrea side.
