Rearcross 'A' 0 - Nenagh Celtic 'A' 7
Rearcross played second fiddle to a lively Nenagh Celtic side in a game played at Rearcross FC Grounds on Sunday morning last. Nenagh got off to a flying start and were three goals to the good within the first seven minutes with goals from Mark Walsh, Stephen Flynn and Benny Sheehan. Just when Rearcross began to get their foot on the ball and start playing a bit of football Celtic struck with two more goals, the first coming in the 26th minute through the boot of Stephen Flynn with the second coming eight minutes later through Davy Walsh. Simon Kennedy crossed to Mark Hogan in the 43rd minute in a rare attack for the home side, an event followed by a long range left legged effort from Kennedy which was well saved by the Nenagh custodian. Rearcross gave a much better account of themselves in the second half and almost pulled one back via Robert Harrington with five minutes gone. This was followed by a lovely corner kick by Robert Harrington which was headed just over by Simon Kennedy in the 67th minute. Celtic then went on to put the final nails in the Rearcross coffin with goals from Mark Walsh and Darren Scully fifteen minutes from time. Rearcross finished with a flurry of half shots from the O’ Toole brothers – Davy, Liam and Declan – but alas finished the game scoreless.
