Rearcross 'B' donning a new Kit sponsored by Rearcross Quarries were at home to league leaders Roscrea United 'B' in this League fixture played at Rearcross FC Grounds on Sunday morning and eventually lost out on a five nil score line. Roscrea made the early incisions and opened their account five minutes in when Chris Conlon got on the end of a delivery from the right to send a low drive whizzing to the back of the net. Rearcross threatened minutes later when good play by Darragh Kennedy released Paul Murphy whose attempted pass to Joey Nolan was blocked out. Rearcross dominated for long spells in the opening half and were denied an equalizer when the ball was somehow scrambled from the feet of James Deegan on the 20 minute mark. Rearcross remained on the front foot and came close seconds later when John Ryan Luke got on the end of a corner kick at the back post to drive narrowly wide. William Mackey was next up with a long range effort which drifted over the target. Roscrea custodian Tom Carney came to the rescue for the visitors with the save of the game on 29th minutes after reflexing to deny Paul Murphy. The Rea boys had claims for a penalty turned down on the half hour mark following a handball infringement, while two minutes later Paul Murphy's corner kick clipped the top of the cross bar. A rare Roscrea counter attack at this stage saw Sean Sheehy equal to the effort with a good block and then Darren Quigley responded with a shot from outside the box which dragged wide of the Roscrea upright to leave Rearcross scoreless at the half time whistle. The hosts got off to the worst possible start in the second half when a move down the right saw Martin Loughnane finish from inside the six yard box. Rearcross were chasing the game after this setback, although Liam Ryan pulled a save out of the Roscrea custodian on the 25 minute mark. Rearcross attacked again six minutes later as PJ McLoughlin squared to Paul Murphy who let fly with a first time effort which came off the upright, however play was called back for offside. Roscrea stretched it to three the 77th minute when Chris Conlon broke through the centre to slip the ball between the posts. Rearcross didn't throw in the towel as Joey Nolan crossed from the right, however Stephen Delaney headed clear and then Paul Murphy broke on the right flank before drilling wide. It was four nil to the visitors in the 88th minute when Paul Brussells headed to the corner of the net, Liam Ryan had a chance to bag a late consolation goal, however the oportunity went abegging before Paul Brussels wrapped it up for the league leaders in the 6th minute of injury time after finishing to the net when the ball broke from a corner kick.
