Cloughjordan 'B' 2 - Rearcross 'B' 0

Rearcross 'B' were on their travels to Cloughjordan for a Tipperary Cup preliminary round game against the home team and bowed out of the NT&DL blue riband Cup competition on a two nil score line. The opening exchanages were nip and tuck with John Ryan Luke, Theo English and Darren Quigley to the fore for the Rea bhoys. The game tie turned in favour of the home side when Cloughjordan were awarded a spot kick, however custodian Darragh Ryan Luke was more than equal to the effort and produced a superb save to turn the ball around the post at the expense of a corner kick. However, further woe was to follow with seconds with the concession of a second penalty, a change of personnel saw John Deane step up to convert with aplomb this time round. It was end to end at the start of the second half, however the hosts stretched it to two nil when James Freighery hit the target on the hour mark after good approach play. Rearcross put it up to the Third Division League contenders after this and came close with a headed effort from PJ McLoughlin before Joey Nolan's pile driver wasn't far away, Brian Carew made a significiant impact when introduced for the green & whites, however Cloughjordan held out to progress to the next round.
