Rearcross 'B' 1 - Donohill & District FC 3

Rearcross 'B' welcomed Donohill & District FC to Rearcross FC Grounds for this end of season friendly on Sunday morning and played second fiddle to a lively TSDL outfit on a 3-1 scoreline. Rearcross had the better of the early exchanges and took the lead when Mark Hogan's free kick went all the way to the net with fifteen minutes gone. Rearcross were unlucky not to stretch their lead when Liam Ryan's effort rebounded off the crossbar to Paul Murphy who wasn't far away with a good effort. The visitors pegged it back level when Eamonn Hanley scored with a fine effort from the edge of the box to leave it all square at the break. Jody Shanahan's team showed the greater flair in the second period and went ahead when John Hayes bundled the ball inside the left upright from close range and then the other upright denied Joe Shanahan with a low effort from the right. Donohill had the better of the chances with shots on goal from Eamonn Hanley and Gerard O'Neill while at the other end a John Ryan Luke pile driver rebounded out for a corner kick. It was game, set and match with seconds remaining when good work on the left from Alan Shanahan saw the ball break to Pat Aherne who finished from close range to seal the win. Best of luck to Donohill & District who play St Michael's in the semi-final to the Tipperary Challenge Cup on Wednesday evening in Cooke Park.
