Rearcross 'A' 2 - Newport AFC 4
Rearcross hosted Newport on Thursday evening in a pre friendly encounter between the two sides. Both sides were missing a number of regular players due to work commitments and holidays. Rearcross started the better and were putting some nice passes together which is very encouraging as there are up to 6 younger players making the step up to the A team this season. Rearcross came close when a Michael O Gorman shot was well saved by the Newport goalie low down. Newport went ahead in the 25th minute and quickly doubled their tally in the 35 to lead 2-0. Rearcross were given a lifeline for their hard work when Michael O Gorman finished low to the bottom corner. Rearcross were under pressure at the start of the second half and found themselves 4 1 quickly. Rearcross stayed plugging away and Michael O Gorman got his second of the day from the spot late on and the game finished 4 2. Both managers will be happy with the runout as they will be able to have had a look at new players on both sides. Next up for Rearcross is Roscrea Utd in the shield on Sunday.
