Rearcross 'A' 5 - Arra Rovers 1

Arra Rovers were the visitors to Rae on Sunday for a quarter final shield tie in what would prove to be another fine performance from Rearcross. Rearcross started well and some fine passing was unlocking the Arra defence and nearly went ahead after 10 minutes when Liam Ryan's goal was called back for an offside infraction. The hoops did go in front on 20 minutes when Liam Ryan found the room to slide a lovely ball into the on rushing Michael O Gorman who finished to the net with aplomb. Rearcross made it 2 0 on 40 minutes when James Deegan got on the end of a great cross and finished to the net. The second half went the same way as the first and Rea found themselves 3 0 up when Liam Ryan grabbed his second of the season. It was 4 0 on 60 minutes when Michael O Gorman stuck the ball in the top corner from a very tight angle outside the box. Patrick Carey making his A team competitive debut rounded off the scoring for Rearcross on 75 minutes after he finished the ball to the net after a goalmouth scramble. Arra grabbed a consolation goal on 80 minutes. Rearcross can be really happy with their start and there are signs that this team could do something special this year.
