Rearcross 'A' 1 - Nenagh Celtic 'B' 2

Rearcross welcomed Nenagh Celtic B to Rea on Wednesday evening for a shield semi final clash in what turned out to be a tough and cleanly fought contest. Rearcross with a bit of a spring in their step following a great start to the season and started the game the better of the two sides. Rearcross were unlucky not to be ahead after 20 minutes when good work from Tommy Lyons found Liam Ryan free at the back post but play was called back for an offside infringement. It was the away side who took the lead on 35 when a quick corner to the edge of the box caught the Rearcross side completely unaware and Stevie Ryan send a thunderbolt to the top right hand corner of the net leaving Jim Caplis in the Rearcross goal with no chance and Rea entered half time a goal down. Rea came out battling in the second half and came close through a number of opportunities through Michael O Gorman and Patrick Deegan. Rearcross were really pushing for an equaliser at this stage but were dealt a sucker blow on 70 minutes when they were caught on the break and Nenagh made it 2 0. Rea to their credit kept battling and pulled it back to 2 1 with 2 minutes remaining when Eamonn Devitt did well getting forward and was fouled for a free from the edge of the box. Up stepped in form Michael O Gorman who send the fall flying into the top corner. at the way they've started the season las, it was too little too late for the Rea bhoys who are to be credited with the way they've started the season.
