Rearcross 'B' 1 - Cloughjordan 'B' 2
Rearcross B team played host to Cloughjordan B last Friday evening. Rearcross started the game brightly with some early attempts on goal including a shot from range by Sean Kennedy and a header by P.J. McLoughlin from a corner which required a clearance off the line by the Cloughjordan defence. The pressure from the Rearcross attack was finally rewarded in the 22nd minute when Darren Quigley latched onto a header by Sean Kennedy from a Diarmuid Sheedy throw. Darren sent the ball to the roof of the net, leaving the Cloughjordan goalkeeper with no chance. However the Rearcross lead was short lived as 4 minutes later Cloughjordan equalised. Cloughjordan had now well and truly settled into the game and on the 40th minute, they took the lead. For the final 5 minutes of the half Rearcross pushed on again in search of an equaliser and were unlucky not to find it as P.J. McLoughlin came close again for a corner kick. From the start of the second half the Cloughjordan attack put the Rearcross defence under immense pressure but they withstood this pressure and eventually got back into the game. Sean Kennedy came agonisingly close on the 65th minutes as his shot hit the crossbar and went wide. For the last 10 minutes Rearcross pushed forward and on the 89th minute after some great passing and pressure by Rearcross, Liam Nolan had a shot just inside the box with his ever dependable left boot and it narrowly went wide. So the score line finished up 2-1 in favour of Cloughjordan.
