Second Successive Barry Cup Title for Rearcross
Rearcross 'A' 3 - Moneygall 'B' 2

Rearcross F.C. successfully retained the Tom Barry trophy that they had won last season, when Val Kennedy headed to the net twenty minutes from time, after his side had twice come from behind to win 3-2. Rearcross regarded as favourites going into this final found Moneygall, however in fine form and in the sixteenth minute after launching a number of attacks Moneygall were awarded a penalty which Michael Dwyer converted after a Rearcross defender was adjudged to have handled the ball. The first half in this game was being played at a very fast pace with both sides creating chances, however it was Rearcross that equalised on the half hour with what was to be the best goal of the game, full back Denis Kennedy, making a run from the deep in his own half, played a 1-2 with Derek O'Toole before crossing low into the penalty area and Michael O'Doherty hit the net to level the scores at 1-1. Moneygall however were in the lead again after 37 minutes when a long throw in by Denis Dwyer reached Michael Dwyer in the penalty area, the midfield man struck a low shot to the net for his second goal of the game and a 2-1 lead to Moneygall. Moneygall looked to be taking a 2-1 interval lead into the second half, but just on the stroke of half time Rearcross were awarded a corner, Thomas Kennedy played a short pass to Denis Kennedy whom did likewise for Thomas Kennedy to send a fine cross and Derek O'Toole headed to the top corner of the net for a 2-2 interval scoreline. The second half started as the first had finished with both sides creating chances, on the hour Padraig McLoughlin won possession for Moneygall and sent a long pass to Brian Fanning on the left wing, Fanning evaded two tackles before crossing to Noel Ryan but his header lacked power and was saved by Rearcross's Oliver Kennedy, at the other end Moneygall's Donal Crowley did well to save a Noel Deegan effort shortly after. Rearcross finally took the lead in the 69h minute after being awarded a free kick just outside the penalty area, Emmet Steed floated the ball across the penalty area and Val Kennedy glanced the ball with his head to the corner of the net, once again Rearcross began to dominate, with Emmet Steed through, with only the keeper to beat, Donal Crowley ran quickly off his line to clear the danger. Moneygall never gave up, but now found the Rearcross defence hard to penetrate, however on the stroke of full time, Rearcross had to survive a goal mouth scramble which featured three shots on goal, but they did and Rearcross held on for the victory. This season has been great one for Rearcross, already promoted to the Premier Division, they are Division 1 Shield Champions as well as Barry Cup Winners and they have also qualified for the Tipperary Cup Quarter Finals where they will face Clonmore, a great season which is not yet over.
