Shield Title for Rearcross 'B'
Rearcross 'B' 2 - Puckane 0

Rearcross 'B' recorded a memorable two nil victory against Puckane in the final of the Third Division Shield last Sunday in Toomevara. A two goal strike in the space of a minute by captain Liam Caplis, set Rearcross 'B' up for their first North Tipperary and District League trophy. The opening period was played in a tense atmosphere with Puckane's Dermot Hogan causing problems for the Rearcross defence. Rearcross went one nil ahead in the 40th minute with a well taken Liam Caplis penalty, Puckane were dealt a further blow 50 seconds later when Liam Caplis made no mistake form close range after the ball broke from a Pat Deegan free kick. Puckane applied the pressure in a hotly contested second half, Rearcross goalkeeper Oliver Kennedy had to be at his very best making three superb saves to deny Puckane from getting on the scoresheet. Overall this was a great team performance by Rearcross with all players giving committed displays. Val Kennedy and Pat Deegan were dominant in defence, Robert J. Hammersley did well in midfield, with Liam Hammersley also playing well up front. The five younger members of the team from last years U-16 team made significant contributions. Paddy Hayes and Ger Ryan worked hard for Puckane.
