Rearcross U-14's played host to Newport and drew one all in a most enjoyable encounter. Rearcross dominated the 1st half with the aid of the wind but couldn't convert the number of chances to goals.Rearcross came close just before halve time when Pat Carey passed out left to Darragh Kennedy who shot over the cross bar from 10 yards out. Rearcross took the lead after five minutes into the 2nd halve when Gary O'Brien broke up a Newport attack passed to Pat Deegan in midfield and with a through ball which Brian Carey ran onto sloted his shot past the Newport Keeper. Newport came more into the game after this and assisted by the wind had a few narrow misses. Good defending by Paul Ryan & Martin Nolan averted their efforts but Newport were rewarded with 10 minutes to go when they broke from the left side of midfield and put through Jack Delahunty who scored from 10 yards. Both sides had a couple of chances near the end but in the end a one all result was a fair result.
