Rearcross U-12's 0 - Lough Derg 'A' 1
A highly ententainining Cup clash saw Rearcross U-12's bow out of the Chapter 14 Credit Union Cup U-12 Cup following a thrilling encounter against Premier Division side Lough Derg 'A' at Rearcross FC Grounds on Saturday. An end to end game from start to finish saw the vistors coming close when an in-swinging corner flew across the face of the goals which was a let off for the home side. Patrick Dawson fired on target in the 3rd minute, however the Lough Derg custodian was positioned to save. Lough Derg pressed again midway through the half as Josh Johnsons's low effort wasn't far way. Rearcross turned in another strong defensive display in the second half and also had their moments up front, a Patrick Dawson free kick outside the box was blocked down and then the hosts should have done better from a corner kick. Cillian Kennedy let fly from out on the left midway through the half, however the low drive was turned outside the post. The Lakers snatched the all important goal with a wonderful strike when Sam O'Loughlin's corner kick broke to Alexander Wood who let fly with a rasper which went all the way to the roof of the net, Rearcross battled gallantly to the end but were unable to snatch the equalizer their efforts deserved. Best of luck to Lough Derg in the remainder of the competition.
