BT Harps 'B' 1 - Rearcross U-13's 1
Rearcross U-13s trekked to Templemore with a bare eleven for this U-13 League game and turned in a creditable performance against the hosts and were unlucky not to snatch all three points on the day. The Rea boys made the better start and hit the front inside the opening five minutes when Stephen Rochford broke on the left before sending a sweet left legged effort whizzing to the far corner of the net from the just outside the box. Rearcross dominated for long spells after this and were denied a second when a trio of corners in quick succession threatening the home sides rearguard, however the scoreline remained intact. The Templemore side showed strongly towards the end of the half and it took a last ditch effort from Brian & Paul Nolan to keep the Slieve Felim side ahead and then a long range effort flew over Colm Lenihan's crossbar in the dying moments of the half. Rearcross got off to the worst possible start after the resumption when a move on the right saw the ball splayed across the face of the goal, a moment of hesitancy saw the home team nip in for close range finish. The away team had the better of the chances in the remainder of the game and came close with efforts from Patrick Dawson and Cillian Kennedy and then it looked as if Billy John Caplis had hit the target after breaking down the right flank, however the ball was inches outside the upright. BT Harps also had their moments and it took a timely intervention from Cian O'Toole to thwart a dangerous attack five minutes from time. Rearcross had the ball in the BT Harps net two minutes from time when Patrick Dawson's low drive nestled in the corner of the net, however play was call back to deny Rearcross their first league win of the campaign.
