Rearcross U-12's 3 Clodiagh Rangers 'B' 1
Rearcross U-12's welcomed Clodiagh Rangers to Reacross FC Grounds for this U-12 league clash and emerged victorious on a 3-1 scoreline following a highly entertaining encounter. Rearcross held wind advantage in the opening half and were on the attack from the kick off, the opener came in the 4th minute when Andy Kinnane sent a low whizzing shot to the back of the net from well outside the box. Ailin Rochford followed up seconds later with a good effort after the ball broke from a corner kick. Clodiagh Rangers created the first incision seconds later, however Brian Nolan got back to put in a well timed tackle before Eimear Carey got in on the act to tidy up. Jim O'Dwyer's effort was on target, however Rearcross keeper Colm Lenihan between the posts made the save. Rearcross were on top towards the end of the half as Andy Kinnane netted his second of the day with another cracking effort which flew past a faultless Clodiagh Rangers custodian Jack Ryan. The Drombane side counter attacked as Katie O'Dwyer's effort was on target, but Colm Lenihan reflexed to turn the ball away with a one handed save. The hosts stretched it to three nil a minute later when Cillian Kennedy struck a long range effort to the roof of the net. Andy Kinnane was denied his hat-trick when a drive from outside the box appeared to be over the line, however the Clodigah shot stopper smothered the ball on the second attempt. Ellie Kennedy was in the action late in the half with a lefl legged volley which was blocked on the line. The Slieve Felim side pressed again after the restart as Andy Kinnane crossed to Brian Nolan, however the headed effort was wide of the target. The visitors turned in a battling performance throughout and were back in the fray midway through the half when Jim O'Dwyer scored with a smashing finish which nestled inside the far post. The game could have swung either way after this with chances at both ends of the pitch with Jack Ryan in the Clodigah goals producing some top notch goalkeeping to leave it 3-1 in favour of the home side at the full time whistle.
