Rearcross U-16's 2 - Killavilla 'A' 1

Rearcross U-16's had to battle all the way to record a dramatic 2-1 league victory over Killavilla 'A' last Saturday. Despite bad wintery conditions, both teams combined to make the game an entertaining spectacle. Rearcross playing against a strong wind in the first half took hold of possession and exerted early dominance with shots from John Foley and Enda Clifford bringing the best out of the keeper. Killavilla came into their own midway through the half with keeper Simon Kennedy having to be at his best hold off the onslaught, however just before half time Killavilla went in front with an opportunist goal to give them the half time advantage. Rearcross made most of the wind advantage in the second half and stamped their authority on the game with successive shots that tested the Killavilla keeper, the equaliser eventually came in the 60th minute when Davy O'Toole pounced to score a well taken goal, Rearcross went all out for victory and with just ten minutes left on the clock Liam Ryan made the most of a defensive error to drive the ball to the back of the Killavilla net. The Rearcross defensive unit had to go in to gladiator mode for the remaining minutes and guarded their lines to great effect to secure the home victory for Rearcross. This was a spirited performance from Rearcross with all players giving their all on the day.
