Rearcross
'A' 6 - Ardcroney 'A' 1
Rearcross 'A' overcame the challenge of a depleted Ardcroney 'A' side last
Sunday morning in Rearcross on a 6-1 scoreline, Ardcroney might have edged
ahead early in the game when a break through the centre saw a well struck
shot fly over the crossbar. Problems were further compounded for the visitors
with the loss of a player minutes later. Rearcross had scoring chances early
in the half, but had to wait until the 37th minute for the opener when Ger
Kennedy's headed effort went in off the crossbar. Rearcross went two nil in
front in the 51th minute when Ger Kennedy finished from close range after
good work on the left by Derek O'Toole and Thomas Kennedy. The advantage was
further increased five minutes later when Emmet Steed's well placed pass was
converted by Ger Kennedy. The scoreline was added to in the 61st minute when
Ger Kennedy knocked the ball to the net from in front of goal. Emmet Steed
made it five nil in the 64th minute when he powered the ball to the net from
an acute angle. Ardcroney pulled a goal back in the 66th minute with a well
taken goal. Thomas Kennedy got his name on the score sheet three minutes later
with a left legged drive from the edge of the eighteen yard box to seal the
victory against an Ardcroney team that gave a spirited display of commitment
on the day.
