(Rearcross 'B' win 5-3 on penalties)

Rearcross 'B' clashed with local rivals Newport AFC 'B' in this Ann Kennedy Cup Tournament quarter final game and came through a penalty shootout in flying colours to book their place in the last four. The encounter was played at a lively pace throughout with both sides displaying an attacking brand of football, Rearcross net minder Joey Nolan made a fine save in the 4th minute to deny the Newport side. Paul Hogan then came close for Rearcross three minutes later with a low effort that pulled across the face of the goalmouth. Newport AFC hit the front when Joe Hogan laid off to Chris Carroll who made no mistake from close range. Rearcross were well up for this game and an Eamon Wade header from a PJ McLoughlin free kick wasn't far away on the twenty minute mark. Newport finished the half in a strong fashion and it took a well timed header from Colm Nolan to deny the visitors on the stroke of half time. Rearcross went on to enjoy the better of the exchanges in the second half and drew level midway through the half when good work in the middle of the field by Sean Kennedy saw Liam Nolan(B) pull in the cross from the left to Paul Hogan who bundled the ball over the line from in front of goals. Chances fell to both sides in the final minutes, however the sides remained deadlocked at the full time whistle so penalties had to be the order of the day. Rearcross proved the more clinical netting five on the trot which included a perfect display of penalty taking from Paul Hogan, PJ McLoughlin, Thomas Kennedy, Sean Hickey and Matthew Ryan Luke while the Newport AFC penalties were converted by Chris Carroll, Adrian Hurley and Al Dolan.
