Rearcross 'A' travelled to Ardcroney last Sunday for a league game and came away with maximum points against an under strength Ardcroney outfit. Val Kennedy forced a good a save out of the Ardcroney keeper in the 2nd minute with a shot from the edge of the eighteen yard box, the resulting corner fell to Martin McLoughlin on the left of the area, who crossed to Emmet Steed who in turn headed to the corner of net. Rearcross failed to build on this early goal and Ardcroney came close in the 11th minute with a well struck shot that wasn't far off target. Liam O'Toole came to the rescue for Rearcross in the 16th minute with well-timed tackle to avert the danger. The home side levelled in the 29th minute when Mike Cleary broke through the middle and put the ball past an advancing Oliver Kennedy. Thomas Kennedy put Rearcross back in front three minutes later with a left legged shot from in front of goals. Exchanges were evenly shared in the opening twenty five minutes of the second half with scoring chances created by both sides, however PJ McLoughlin made it 3-1 for Rearcross in the 71st minute when he knocked the ball to the net after a great move on the left flank involving Derek O'Toole and Liam O'Toole. Rearcross raced into a 4-1 lead two minutes later with a left legged strike from Derek O'Toole that hit the underside of the crossbar and finished in the back of the net, Rearcross went further ahead in the 74th minute when Derek O'Toole found space on the left wing and chipped the Ardcroney keeper with a well taken goal. Thomas Kennedy rounded off the scoring in the 80th minute with a well struck free kick from just outside the eighteen yard box.
