Rearcross F.C. Rearcross 'A' lived to fight another day against Thurles Town 'B' on a four all scoreline in an action packed third round Munster Junior Cup tie played in Rearcross last Sunday. The Thurles side went ahead in the 5th minute when Wayne McLeish scored with a left footed finish from just inside the eighteen yard box. Rearcross recovered well and equalised in the 16th minute when Denis Kennedy's pass found Emmet Steed who a hit a first time strike past a stranded Thurles keeper. The visitors edged ahead for the second time on 30 minutes when Wayne McLeish was again on target with a well taken goal. Emmet Steed levelled the scoreline in the 38th minute with a headed goal from close range. Oliver Kennedy came to the rescue in the 40th minute with two successive saves to keep the score line intact. Emmet Steed rounded off his hat-trick two minutes before halftime when he headed to the corner of the net after good approach play on the right flank. Sean Kennedy was unlucky just on the stroke of halftime when his effort wasn't far off target. Rearcross should have increased their advantage in the 51st minute, however the penalty strike was over the top. Derek O'Toole put Rearcross 4-2 ahead in the 56th minute with a well taken goal, a determined Thurles team kept the pressure on Rearcross and forced a great save from Oliver Kennedy in the 56th minute, the visitors were back in the game a minute later when the ball finished in the net after a skirmish in front on goal. Thurles Town equalised in the 62nd minute when Danny Hickey converted from the penalty spot to send the game to a replay next Sunday.
