Rearcross 'A' 3 - Nenagh Town 'A' 1
Rearcross 'A' got back to winning ways with a deserved 3-1 league victory
against Nenagh Town 'A' last Sunday, a lively Nenagh combination looked
dangerous from the kick off, however Rearcross counteracted well and went
one nil in front in the 8th minute when the ball broke on the left flank
to Thomas Kennedy who's resulting cross was finished to the back of the
net by a well positioned Emmet Steed. Nenagh dominated proceedings for the
remainder of the half with Oliver Kennedy having to be at his best in the
12th minute when he reacted well to save a headed effort from a corner kick.
Nenagh's dominance paid off in the 35th minute when good play from Trevor
Morrissey found Paul Cullen who unleashed an unstoppable shot to give the
visitors a deserved equaliser. Oliver Kennedy again came to the rescue in
the 41st minute when he saved a well struck shot from the edge of the eighteen
yard box. Rearcross took control of the game from the start of the second
half and were unlucky not to take the lead in the 53rd minute when Derek
O'Toole out paced the Nenagh defence, however his effort hit the inside
of the upright and rolled across the goal line to safety. Rearcross went
ahead for the second time on 61 minutes when the ball broke to Derek O'Toole
who rifled home from outside the eighteen yard box. Rearcross increased
their lead in the 68th minute when Thomas Kennedy struck a left footed drive
to the roof of the net to secure a valuable victory for Rearcross.
