Rearcross 'A' overcame the challenge of Kilcommon 'A' on a one nil scoreline in a well attended Munster Junior Cup match played in Rearcross last Sunday. The opening half saw chances created by both sides with the woodwork denying Rearcross midway through the first half when John Ryan Luke's effort rebounded of the upright and was subsequently cleared to safety. A well contested second half failed to produce any goals, so the game was taken to extra time, Rearcross got the vital breakthrough in the 97th minute when a well struck free kick by John Rynan(L) was deflected to the corner of the net off a Kilcommon defender. Kilcommon piled on the pressure in the second period of extra time, however the Rearcross rearguard stood firm to hold on for victory.
