Rearcross 'A' travelled to Newtown last Sunday for a league fixture against Arra Rovers and came away with maximum points on a two nil score line. The homeside came close in the 8th minute when a well struck free kick was just over the top, Arra's netminder kept the scoreline intact three minutes later when he saved from PJ McLoughlin. A well timed tackle by John Ryan(L) cleared the danger for Rearcross in the 22nd minute when Arra Rovers looked to be coming in to the game. Rearcross took the lead in the 24th minute when PJ McLoughlin passed to Emmet Steed who hit a first time shot to the back of the net from the edge of the eighteen yard box. An advancing Arra keeper denied Derek O'Toole on 41 minutes. Sean Kennedy edged Rearcross two nil ahead in the 56th minute with a well taken goal from inside the eighteen yard box. Arra tried hard to get back in to the game, but failed to breakdown a resilient Rearcross rearguard that made a major contribution to this victory.
