Rearcross 'B' 8 - Clodiagh Rangers 'B' 1
Rearcross 'B' finished the first half of their league campaign
on a winning note with a comprehensive victory against an under strength Clodiagh
Rangers 'B' squad. Exchanges were evenly shared in the first half with Rearcross
taking the lead in the 10th minute when Nigel Ryan broke on the wing and dispatched
a clinical pass to Paul Murphy who tapped in from close range, Clodiagh levelled
on the half hour mark with a well worked goal. Rearcross made a strong finish
to the half and went ahead again just before the break when Paul Murphy crossed
to Nigel Ryan who headed towards goal with Liam Ryan getting the finishing
touch to knock past the Clodiagh custodian. Rearcross dominated the second
half and went 3-1 in front four minutes in when Thomas Kennedy was the provider
from the left to an unmarked Nigel Ryan who steadied and slotted to the corner
of the net. Liam Ryan made it 4-1 with a well struck shot minutes later, it
was all Rearcross at this stage and Liam Ryan completed his hat trick midway
through the half with a shot from the edge of the box. Paul Murphy was on
target in the 74th minute with a strike from inside the box and then rounded
off his hat trick with a cleverly worked goal. Liam Nolan(B) completed the
rout late in the game when an in swinging effort finished in the net.
