Rearcross 'B' 2 - Kinnity Rovers 1
Rearcross 'B' were victors by the odd goal in three against
Kinnity Rovers in a league fixture played in Rearcross last Sunday, Rearcross
applied all the early pressure, however the Kinnity net minder was in fine
form and managed to keep the home side out until the 20th minute when Eamon
Devitt finished to net after a goal mouth scramble, Thomas Kennedy came close
with a good effort from a free kick in the 29th minute, Rearcross went two
on front shortly before the half time whistle when Thomas Kennedy's free kick
from thirty yards left the Kinnity keeper with no chance. The second half
was keenly contested with Kinnity forcing a number of corners with Rearcross
doing well to clear their lines. Trevor Delahunty then had successive efforts
on target, however the Kinnity custodian again kept the score line intact.
Kinnity pulled a goal back with a chipped effort from the edge of the area
with twenty minutes remaining, Rearcross had to defend in depth for the remainder
of the game to protect their slender lead. Best for Rearcross on the day were
Val Kennedy, Eamon Devitt, Denis Kennedy & Nigel Ryan.
