Rearcross 'A' succumbed to a 3-2 league defeat against Nenagh
Town 'A' in Rearcross last Sunday afternoon, Rearcross were denied when the
Nenagh custodian got down to save from Jamie Ryan in the 11th minute after
a good lay off from Emmet Steed, Nenagh went ahead in the 20th minute when
Martin Donnellan drilled past Sean Sheehy from just inside the eighteen yard
box, Rearcross were back on par in the 26th minute when Emmet Steed's free
kick from outside the box finished in the net, the parity was short lived
however as Nenagh equalised with the next attack when a David Chadwick effort
barely crept over the line, the visitors finished the half strongly after
this and a Darren O'Gorman effort was inches wide of the far upright in the
36th minute, Simon Kennedy did will to deny Nenagh two minutes later with
a goal line clearance. Simon Kennedy was again in the action a minute in to
the second half with a long range effort from out on the right that clipped
the Nenagh crossbar, it was Nenagh's turn two minutes later when an in swinging
corner skimmed the upright, the follow up play saw the ball break to Paul
Tucker who sent the ball to the roof of the net from twenty yards with a sweet
right footed strike, Rearcross battled to get back on level terms and a good
run by Derek O'Toole down the left flank in the 59th minute looked threatening
however Robbie Ryan got down at the near post to avert the danger, Nenagh
then came close a minute later with a fine effort from Michael O'Gorman that
thumped off the crossbar, Rearcross reduced the deficit with thirteen minutes
remaining when Derek O'Toole latched on to a through ball from Damien Mullins
and knocked to the net from in front of goal, a Sean Mullins shot was saved
by Robbie Ryan in the Nenagh goals in the 81st minute, Rearcross pushed hard
for an equaliser in the remaining minutes, however Nenagh held out for a facile
victory.
