'B' 2 - Rearcross 'B' 3
Rearcross 'B' advanced to the second round of the Tipperary Cup last Sunday with a merited victory against a dogged Cormacstown Rovers 'B' squad on a 3-2 score line after extra time. The strong winds played havoc on this game, however Rearcross coped better early on and opened the scoring when Tommy Ryan Luke started a move deep inside his own half, Thomas Kennedy and Nigel Ryan made the running before delivering back to the centre half who bagged his first of the season with a strike from just inside the eighteen yard box. Rearcross went two nil up ten minutes later when Nigel Ryan intercepted a Cormacstown back pass and squared to Thomas Kennedy who rifled his fourteenth of the season to the net, Rearcross were playing against the elements in the second half and as expected the home side piled on the pressure, Rearcross defended admirably in the opening period, however the home side were given a life line with a goal from the penalty spot, and then disaster struck for a second time when Cormacstown were awarded a second penalty ten minutes later which was duly converted to leave sides level at the end of normal time. Rearcross regained their composure in the extra time period, a fine move involving Davy Ryan Luke and Thomas Kennedy saw Nigel Ryan in space whose pile driver rebounded off the crossbar, Rearcross got the all important goal in the second period of extra time when Thomas Kennedy worked hard to win possession before releasing Nigel Ryan who coolly slotted past and advancing keeper, this was a good display in difficult conditions with encouraging displays from Pat Wixted, Micheal Carey, Eamon Wade and Trevor Delahunty
