Emmet Steed released James Gough two minutes later, however the ball didn't fall too kindly and the ball flew over the Moneygall crossbar, this was followed by a fluent move on the right that saw James Gough break on the right before squaring to Sean Mullins who fired on target, however Moneygall's Billy McCormack cut across to avert the danger. Moneygall also had their moments and an effort from the right on the half hour mark finished in the side netting. Emmet Steed was working hard up front and set up James Gough a minute later, however the Moneygall custodian had read the situation and did well to make the save. Simon Kennedy raced down the left on 28 minutes and swung in a fine cross, however the change went a begging. Nigel Ryan made space to strike a well struck shot with nine minutes remaining in the half, however Padraig Greene was able to get behind the shot and gathered cleanly.
Moneygall upped the ante in the second half and won a free outside the box, Jim Caplis got down well to block the ball away from the danger zone, this was followed by the concession of successive corners, however the home side kept the score line intact. Rearcross counter attacked and Paul Murphy's free kick from the edge of the eighteen yard box was inches over the Moneygall crossbar. The visitors threatened again from a corner kick in the 53rd minute as Eamon Devitt reacted superbly to clear off the line. Jim Caplis came to the rescue again three minutes later with a reflex save and then Paul Murphy's nineteen yard free kick clipped the visitor's crossbar. It was end to end stuff and Declan O'Toole tracked back to put in a fine tackle when Moneygall looked to be in for a goal. It was proving to be a frustrating night for a battling Rearcross side and Paul Murphy rattled the side netting with fifteen minutes remaining. Davy O'Toole split the Moneygall defence in the 82nd minute before splaying a clever ball to Emmet Steed, however a dogged Moneygall defence closed in and booted to safety. Moneygall nearly stole the show with three minutes remaining when good play on the right saw the ball break to Joseph Callaghan with the curling effort skidding off the base of the upright, Rearcross broke up field after this let off and Davy O'Toole advanced on the left before driving a left legged shot just inches wide of the upright, overall a draw was deemed a fair result on the night.
