Borrisokane 2 - Rearcross 'B' 0

Rearcross 'B' travelled to Borrisokane for the this Fast Food Cup quarter final, the visitors almost fell behind five minutes into the second half when a long range effort flew over the top corner. Moments later, Jim Caplis had to be at his best to save a header destined for the bottom corner. Rearcross conceded the opening goal on the hour mark when an inrushing Philip Austin beat the advancing Jim Caplis to a long ball floated into the penalty area and looped his header into the empty net. Further disaster struck minutes later when John Ryan (L) was dreadfully unlucky to turn the ball into his own net to leave Rearcross two goals down. Rearcross to their credit battled well after this and tried to force their way back into the game. However, despite having all the possession, they struggled to make inroads in a crowded penalty area and were limited to long range shots and numerous corners. Rearcross were denied a penalty with fifteen minutes to go when Matthew Ryan (L) was adjudged to have been fouled in the box. Rearcross continued to battle but could not find a way to peg back their two goal deficit. And so Rearcross 'B' made an early exit from their Divisional Cup in a game which they might have won had luck not been against them on the day.
