Latteragh Celtic 0 - Rearcross 'B' 4

Rearcross 'B' made a successful start to their defense of the 2nd division shield with an encouraging away victory over Latteragh Celtic last Sunday morning. Rearcross got off to the best possible start when they took the lead after just 5 minutes on the clock. Matthew Ryan (L) found space in the corner and picked out the inrushing Robert Harrington at the back post. The midfielder finished neatly to put Rearcross in front. The game settled after this and the home side enjoyed their fair share of possession. However they struggled to create any clear cut chances as the Rearcross rearguard coped well. Rearcross went further ahead after 25 minutes when good pressure from Michael O’Gorman and Robert Harrington saw the ball fall to Liam Ryan and he made no mistake from 12 yards out to open his account for the season. And indeed he doubled his tally minutes later when he did well to create space at the edge to the area. His well struck shot found the corner to put Rearcross 3 up. The visitors almost grabbed a fourth when on the stroke of half time a Michael O’Gorman shot crashed off the crossbar and away to safety. The 2nd half was a tighter affair as Rearcross were forced to defend in numbers as the home side tried to force their way back into the game. However, their efforts were forced as Rearcross defended stoutly and restricted Latteragh to mostly long distance shots. Rearcross added to their lead on the 70th minute mark with a Michael O’Gorman goal.
