Rearcross 'B' 1 - Blackcastle Utd 'B' 2
Rearcross B ceded their 2nd Division shield title with a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Blackcastle United B last Wednesday evening. Blackcastle had the majority of possession and took the lead midway through the first half when a cross to the back post was headed home. Rearcross battled hard after this but failed to create many clear cut chances. They were dealt a further blow when the referee pointed to the spot after the Blackcastle striker was upended inside the ares 15 minutes into the 2nd half. The resulting penalty left Jim Caplis with no chance. The home side pulled a goal back they were awarded a penalty of their own 10 minutes later. Liam Ryan stepped up to slot the spot kick home to halve the deficit. Rearcross piled on the pressure for the remainder of the game but despite their best efforts were unable to break down a resilient Balckcastle defence. Tommy Ryan (S) came closest and his shot beat the keeper only to be denied by the upright.
