Templetouhy 3 - Rearcross Youths 1
Rearcross Youths were the visitors to Killoran Park for this Youths league fixture against Templetouhy and came away empty handed following a 3-1 defeat. The home side were fast out of the traps and applied the early pressure, Paul Burke fired over the bar in the 5th minute and then followed up a minute later to put Templetouhy ahead a minute later after breaking down the right flank before sending a low drive between the posts. Rearcross battled to get back on par and Tommy Kennedy was unlucky not to score on twelve minutes. Templetouhy raced in to a two nil lead midway through the half when Tom Cantwell latched on to a cross from the right and knocked to the net from close range. Tommy Kennedy found Dave Carroll two minutes later however the Templetouhy rearguard closed in to avert the danger. Rearcross were not getting the breaks and went three nil in arrears on the half hour mark when Paul Burke took advantage and put the ball past an advancing Bobby Carroll. Rearcross were unlucky not to pull a goal back before the break with good efforts from Michael O'Gorman and Kieran Devitt.
Rearcross upped the ante in the second half and showed strongly early on, Greg Kennedy shot barely over the bar three minutes in to the half. Rearcross continued to attack and a Sean Hickey delivery was headed inches wide of the target by William Horrigan. Rearcross were on top all over the field at this stage and their efforts were rewarded when Andrew Ryan advanced on goal and buried the ball in the back of the net. The Rearcross onslaught continued and a Kieran Devitt shot from a tight angle was parried by the Templetouhy custodian with fourteen minutes remaining. Rearcross were denied again five minutes later when William Horrigan broke on the right and was very unlucky to see his effort pull across the face of the goal, however time ran out for a Rearcross side that had battled gallantly throughout and with a bit more luck might have taken something from this game.
