Rearcross 'A' 8 - Borrisokane 'B' 2
Rearcross welcomed Borrisokane 'B' to Rearcross on Sunday last for a Tipperary Cup 2nd Round fixture. Rearcross took the lead in the 5th minute when Derek O'Toole was brought down in the box and Liam Ryan finished the resultant penalty to the net. Rearcross doubled their advantage in the 8th minute when Declan O'Toole sent older brother Derek through who duly obliged with a nice finish to the bottom corner. Tommy Ryan ventured forward into unknown territory for the full back in the 15th minute and was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet when his shot just rose over the bar. Rearcross were dominating all over the field at this stage and a low drive from Robert Harrington was inches wide of the upright in the 21st minute. Rearcross got their 3rd of the day in the 25th minute when Liam Ryan combined with Liam O'Toole with the latter sending a menacing delivery across the goalmouth which was deflected to the net by a luckless Borrisokane defender. Rearcross got their fourth goal when a good shot by Eamonn Devitt was spilled by the goalkeeper and Declan O'Toole was on hand to finish to the back of the net. Rearcross took up a five nil lead in the 35th minute when Declan O'Toole kept his composure in front of goal before slotting to the corner of the net. It was six nil to the home side on 40 minutes when good approach play on the left saw Liam Ryan swing in the cross which was knocked to the net by a Borrisokane defender. Credit to Borrisokane who stayed plugging away and pulled a goal back just befor half time with Eamonn Gregg finishing to the net. Borrisokane brought it back to 6-2 in the 49th minute with a fine strike from the boot of Darren Molloy. Rearcross got their 7th of the day in the 51t minute when Liam Ryan's cross from the right was headed to the net by Declan O'Toole to complete his hat-trick. Liam Ryan grabbed his 2nd of the day with 15 minutes left to leave the score at 8 2. Borrisokane to their credit kept plugging to the end, however it finished 8-2 to a home side that will now face stiff opposition from Nenagh AFC 'B' in the 3rd round.
