Nenagh AFC 'A' 5 - Rearcross 'A' 2

Rearcross travelled to Brickfields on Sunday last for their last league game of the season to take on Nenagh AFC. Rearcross made the worst possible start and found themselves 3 0 down after Mark McKenna, MichaelHogan and Trevor Kenneally all scored to put Nenagh in a commanding position. Instead of dying off Rearcross came to life after this and pulled one back when good work from Diarmaid Sheehy and Eamonn Devitt saw the ball played to Declan O' Toole at the back post who finished superbly to the top corner of the net. Rearcross were back in the game two minutes later when Liam Ryan took on the center half before finishing with aplomb to the back of the net and the teams went into half time with Nenagh leading 3 2. Rearcross nearly equalised in the 52nd minute when Greg Kennedy rose highest from Derek O'Toole's corner to but saw his headed efort go wide. Rearcross again came close in the 66th minute from another corner kick with Eamonn Wade getting up this time but to again see his effort go wide. Nenagh secured the win in the 78th minute when Jerome Ashman's curling free kick from out on the left was flicked to the net by Shane O'Gorman. Nenagh made it 5 2 when Bryan McGee was fouled in the box before Robbie Ryan stepped up to convert the resulting penalty. Rearcross played well and the day and didn't deserve to lose by 3 goals in the end. If Rearcross put up battling performance like this next year they should put in a good challenge for league honours in the First Division next year.
