Rearcross Youths 1 - Nenagh Celtic Youths 2

Rearcross welcomed Nenagh Celtic with the home side looking to continue the impressive form they showed against Clodiagh Rangers the week before. The home team started the brightest with Evan Gleeson playing Patrick Carey through whose shot found the net after 5 minutes of play. Gary McMahon was next to test the Nenagh keeper but he was equal to the near post shot. Both sides proved equal during the first half with very limited chances at either end. In the 27th minute Kevin Connolly played a great ball through to Evan Gleeson who shot was just wide. Rearcross had another chance this time from Gary McMahon whose shot was well saved again. Rea were to regret not taking their chances when with just 2 minutes left till the break Sean O'Meara raced onto a great ball through ball and finished past the keeper to draw the visitors level. Rearcross again had the better of the chances in the second half with Evan Gleeson going close on two occasions. Mid-way through the game was stopped when Gary O Brian collided with the Celtic centre half with the Rearcross captain coming off the worst and forced to withdraw from the game with a mouth injury. With a huge gap in the heart of the Rearcross defence Nenagh took full advantage and scored what proved to be the winner with a bullet of a near post shot from Sean O'Meara. Rearcross showed great character and had a handful of chances before the end to get something form the game with Jamie Russell and Darragh Kennedy going close. Patrick Carey had the ball in the net but was ruled to have been in an offside position. Nenagh held on to take all three points. Rearcross will need to regroup after this defeat. Everyone involved with the team and Club who like to wish Gary a speedy recovery and to also wish the Sean Tracey minors best of luck in their upcoming County Hurling Final.
